Stained Glass Window Mosaic

I am trying to use up my small pieces of stained glass. I am in the process of doing a 6 panel window using small stained glass pieces using a mosaic method. The glue I bought said you need to let it set for 2 min. before you apply it to the surface. Some of my pieces are very small and this is very time consuming. I am using Carpenter's Goop [glue says it is waterproof and glues to glass]. Do you think I could spread the whole glass panel with glue and then put down pieces? That would mean some areas would spaces with no glass. Would this give me problems when I go to grout the window? Do you know of a glue to use for outside use that is waterproof and will work on glass and not yellow? I'd appreciate any guidance from you in this matter.Thank you.

Since you have had no one respond to you on this forum, why not try the Garden Junk forum. There are a lot of crafters there who do beautiful mosaic work and they may be able to answer your question. What you are doing, they call 'glass on glass'.

I use Mac glue on my mosaic and have been very happy with it. You can buy it online.

I recently completed a large GOG piece using a large arch shaped window. I used weldbond as an adhesive. Portions of the window are grouted. I am hoping to hang this piece on the exterior of my home. Is there some way to seal so that the weld bond will still hold? Thanks, Ellen

Hmmm... Any idea what stuff is in the contest packet? I couldn't find any information on the shop's website. I'm a bit confused because it sounds like they want you to use bevels, which you can't fuse. I don't think I'll be able to do it, my life is kind of topsy turvy at the moment. We're relocating to Dallas, DH has been there since the beginning of Feb. I'm still here in FL trying to get the house sold & waiting for my TX RN license to come through. Things have been a little crazy & my creative juices seem to have dried up a bit. Anyway, think I'm going to have to pass on this one.

I am not an authority by any means. From what I understand, stained glass is the type of glass used to fuse glass in a kiln. The only warning I've heard from the fused glass studio where I took classes is that, when you are fusing two different pieces of stained glass together, they should be the same COE. So if you are planning to fire your glass in a kiln, you wouldn't try to fuse a piece of Bullseye (90 COE) to a piece of Spectrum (96 COE). It's called "compatibility." COE means Coefficient of Expansion. So, short answer, it should be okay to put your glass in a kiln. You might want to do some more research; try "warm glass" in Google search.
