Hi Kelli, I tried to email you a response but it didnt go through. I have plenty of the red cypress vine, however the danish poppy and black cloud are out. I am expecting some lilac pom pom to arrive in a few days, its a beauty! If your in no hurry I can subsitute some of that instead. Also the Red Zinger isnt ready to harvest yet, but will be soon. I saw a few I would love to have in your list too, the echinacea, monarda, and the hyacinth bean. I think my email is listed above in one of the replys. Im new here so I dont know the proper way to contact people, but am totally ok with sending you my address for trade, and if you want to give me yours I can get seeds in the mail for you. hey_j, Cutting back - blasphemy - lol. Easiest way to slow down- stop looking at the pictures posted here in July. My list quadrupled after last summer. I look at my list a couple of ways - first, what can I find locally, those are no rush. Second what is over my price threshold - those over $20 you have to pull pretty hard to get the money out of my fingers. Those under $10-12 not so much. I'm a bit worried with the convention in MN next year. Finally how similar is a hosta to something I have - pics posted here like McT's and yours really help; and Papou's site to see growth and mature pics. I copy pics from on-line to my list so I remember what about a hosta caught my attention. Also if a local grower can give me a solid opinion about a hosta cultivar - that is very important. Late night ramblings.... lol On your list. The first 6 are on my list to get/got last fall/or watching - pretty much in the order you have them listed. I have: Homemade self-watering containers made out of pickle/egg buckets. Probably some 4 gallon + 2 reservoir and 2 gallon + 2 reservoir. A couple of each size. terrene: Like sooey, I only count the time actually spent watching the birds. For me, this is usually 1 to 4 hours (estimated); just spread out over the whole two days. I spent more time for the Christmas Bird Count, which was one of my two PFW days, so I called that 4 to 8 hours total. Most of my productive counting is done in the early morning hours when the birds are feeding after a long night. I'll often look at my tally sheet around 10 or 11 am and see that most of the regulars are there. There's another burst of activity after I refill the feeders in the late afternoon. I do this so that there will be plenty of food in the morning and I won't feel pressured to get out there early. The rest of the day is for stragglers and fine-tuning the count. sooey: I don't really hear the cardinals in the winter - my windows are pretty tight. The Mourning Doves are a different issue. They come at dusk, but they're so wary (I think because of the hawks) that I usually don't see them. Often I'll see 2 or 3 at a time during the daytime, but when I go out to refill the feeders I'll hear that squealing sound of a flock of panicky doves taking flight. If I look up fast, I can get a rough count of the flock, maybe 10 or 12. The other birds that come at dusk with the cardinals are the native sparrows, but these are really hard to identify - little brown birds in the shadow of a big shrub. Claire
