Why is my cucumber fuzzy?
Comments (2)Well, guess what -- the photo on the left, yours, IS an Armenian cucumber, and a nice one at that. Congrats. Eat and enjoy. The photo on the right on the Ferry Morse package is NOT an Armenian cuke -- looks like some kind of Japanese Burpless type to me. THEY MESSED UP -- THEY PUT THE WRONG PHOTO ON THEIR SEED PACKETS. Perhaps a mistake, perhaps (probably not) a deceptive marketing practice. At least they got the right seeds in the package. It happens....See MoreWhy Does My Phone Ring After I Hang Up?
Comments (5)Yes, you're right in what you said at the end of your post; this is coming from 3-way calling. Many phone companies have now enabled 3-way calling and all the other "custom calling features" on a pay-per-use basis, so your line probably does have 3-way calling enabled on it. This will not occur on all calls because if it is on your local exchange that you have gotten a busy signal, the phone company's computer is "smart" enough to know that you would not want to put a busy signal on hold and dial a second number. However, if the busy signal is on a long-distance number, your local phone company's computer doesn't know it's a busy signal, so it will let you put it on hold and dial a second number. You need to keep the phone hung up longer before making a second call. In some cases, you may be charged long distance for the call that's hearing a busy signal but is on hold, and in others you might be charged for a use of 3-way calling if it's on your line as a pay-per-use feature....See MoreWhy is part of my granite soft and crumbly?
Comments (20)Hi Aggiebobcat, Wow, that is funny. I havenâÂÂt been on GW for a very long time. I came across this post, scrolled to the bottom and see your question is only from 3 days ago. :) They did repair the section and it blended in pretty well. About a week ago however, I noticed another very small hole near the location of the original problem. I asked my current fabricator (for the bathroom) about it, but I think he didnâÂÂt want to be bothered repairing a counter that someone else installed. My husband filled it with a little melted wax from a candle. It's no longer noticeable and hopefully this will stop it from getting any worse. What type of granite do you have?...See MoreWhy do my tomatoes turn yellow and die after setting fruit every year?
Comments (32)Janice: According to Clemson I was within the planting window but towards the end ( I am in the central area). I planted April 15th (planting for my area is April 5-25). But you do have a good point about planting earlier. I usually like to plant at least some early (in March) under row covers to get earlier fruit. I do know that this year fruiting (and also my leaf yellowing problem that seems somehow linked to fruiting) is at least a few weeks later than normal. But I chalked that up to the high-nitrogen chicken manure which caused a lot of green leafy growth at the expense of fruit. Two years ago I grew peppers with great success, I've tried squash and cucumbers in these beds 2 or 3 years ago which both failed miserably. But I have added a lot of lime and fertilizer since then. My pH in these beds 2 years ago was 4.0 -5.5 so one would not expect squash to do well. Last two or three years these beds have had tomatoes and peppers, because I care the most about tomatoes and wanted to put them where there was the most sun. Thanks so much for your time. It's been very helpful. :)...See Moredigdirt2
