She's B-a-a-a--a-c-k!!!!!

I don't have the foggiest notion whether anyone here will remember me or not as it has been about two years since I posted...but it has been a very BUSY couple of years!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Sewcrazynurse for posting the roll-call thread! I have lurked for a few days trying to see who I recognized and your responses were JUST what the doctor ordered!

DH, Son&Heir and I have FINALLY moved in to the "house on the hill" we built and have always dreamed of and worked hard for! Because of all the planning, it felt just like "home" the very day we moved in (one month short of being a year ago) and we had all the details nailed down so well beforehand that I think we could have walked around in the dark that first night without even bumping into the furniture!

We have a mere ten acres just south of Tulsa but have so much fun being "pretend" farmers that it ought to be illegal! I haven't made much progress toward the cut flower farm plan yet (working full time to help finance the dream!) but the method-in-our-madness of planting 100 plus blueberry plants has paid off not only in the freezer and future farmer-market hopes as the plants become more well-established but it also allowed us to retain our agricultural property tax designation. (Along with a few other considerations like hay, chickens, tractors and so forth.)

At any rate.....SOME of you were QUITE patient with me as we began this journey and after being off-line a couple of years while working our fool heads off, it is a delight to be back in the forum and to truly feel like "Farm-Life" applies to little ole ME! (Considering that there is no "Pretending You Have a Farm-Life" forum!

It was lovely to see some old names in Sewcrazynurse's thread and I look forward to catching up with old friends and making new ones!

i've been reading the roll call thread but haven't posted yet. one of these days i'll have time to sit down here for more than 2 minutes!

We are a little ecstatic (and I AM a little inclined to talke/type too much!) but I sure appreciate your response! It would have made me sad not to get ANY responses all though...as you note so appropriately....farmers are busy people! Staying at the computer long enough to read AND post is a rarity!

I'll try to keep my future posts more "on-topic" but I sure appreciate your reply! Look forward to becoming better acquainted with you and Lots of new friends!

I think I've found a little more information on this bean, I found an Italian land race named Billo. The information on this one... Origin: Cuneo province Italian Region: Piemont Consumption form: Dry Seed Growth Habit: Climbing Seed Colour: Light brown (Violet) Type of seed coat pattern: Striped Seed Shape: Oval 100 seed weight (g): 77 Note: The cultivation of this ecotypes started in the 1950's when seeds from Lamon (see Veneto regions) were introduced in the Cuneo province. Emilia's Italian (we use it as a snap bean) Billo is from the Veneto region in Italy and the Province of Udine (where Emilia's Italian came from) is in the white bit to the right. The cultivation of Billo started in the 1950's whereas the bean I named Emilia's Italian came over to Canada in 1911. Billo is the closest match I could find to my Emelia's so if not the same bean I do think they are related.I think I have finally quenched my curiosity on this one :). Annette

Monterey Garden Insect Spray works great. Neem, insecticidal soaps, or other insecticides will not work. Montery has a special compound (spinosad) that controls rose slugs. No other spray I know of has spinosad. I suffered from rose slugs last year and as soon as I found out about this spray and starting using it, the rose slug problem got under control and disappeared completely.

Thank you for your replies. Yes Tiger it was authorized dealer. I know he wanted to put in 17" furnace cabinet & coil because my 24" closet(I know it would have to be dropped in from attic,not through closet door) and said it would be hard to repair and service if 21". However the Goodman guy didn't complain about the size of closet. Goodman guy, said the HP with dual fuel would be nice, but it would take getting use to a cooler heat with HP, until gas heat kicked on, since we are use to gas heat. I will call AS guy back and ask about the other sizes. I will also get another AS guy out here. I feel that I really need a load test, esp. since when I look @ AS stuff, alot of what you suggested is either 3 or 4 ton, not 3.5 ton which is what I have. Back in 1996, when my a/c went out, they put in carrier with a bigger coil, no test done then either. I think the orginial was a Rheem 2.5 or 3 ton. I want to get this right and hopefully have it last 25 yrs up. What is you opinion on the Goodman? Rheem? Carrier? Also which is cheaper, HP or AC, with gas heat? I might be willing to try HP, hubby NOT. Thanks guys.

I've done it in the past, but as I'm retired now, I don't need to take on that type of headache. It takes a lot of accuracy on your end, and trust on the KD's end that the installer, A) can measure correctly, B) understands the intricacies of measuring for cabinets and C) can actually do a good quality cabinet install involving out of whack floors, walls, and ceiling, as well as crown moldings etc. There's a local member of my NKBA chapter who posts here sometimes (GreenDesigns) that still takes on some projects like that, but you'd better be sure of exactly what you want out of such a relationship. Do you want a functional critique of your ideas? A critique of the planned finishes and how they integrate into the rest of the home? Suggestions for design elements and finishes? A critique of another designer's kitchen layout, or the finishes involved in their layout? A kitchen layout that may or may not be possible in some cabinet lines due to their limitations? An actual kitchen design using a cabinet line that would be really buildable within that line? A design with major custom work that can only be instituted by a fully custom line or maker? What do you expect? And, yeah, are your expectations in line with market rates for designers for the services that you want? You can get a lot of valuable input for free from this forum if you are willing to do the legwork of proper measuring and a bit of thinking outside the box when suggestions are thrown your way. Of course, if you want more personal attention, then do some calling around if you don't have anyone local.
