I never heard of sugar snap peas being raised from boughten starts. They would do much better from seeds and started earlier as they are a cool weather crop. I planted some about the 5th of March and they are gone now.

I'm going to guess they were in the pot too long and you planted them too late. When a plant starts flowering and making seed pods, it's at the tail end of its growing cycle. I'm in NH and we've been eating sugar snaps for a couple of weeks. I have a 10' row of Sugar Ann which doesn't get very tall. I remember thinking the mature date was right on, something like 56 days (planted early April). I had covered the bed with black plastic to warm it up and then covered the bed with Agribon-19 garden fabric. A few weeks later I planted a tall variety that's about 5-6' tall right now and just beginning to blossom. The plants still look good despite this spell of hot weather. My DIL planted sugar snap starts. They look healthy but puny and I thought she put them in very late. This is her first vegetable garden and she just picked up some plants at a big box store. It is much easier to start sugar snaps from seed so I would suggest that for next year or maybe trying for a fall crop. I also planted two very short rows of pea pods quite late (sorry not at home where my records are) to try to space out production.

Buy some seeds and plant some now, and some in early July. Your summers are fairly cool there. I'll bet you'll get a good crop, if you keep them fertilized and watered.

I agree, they look like they are past their prime and will die soon from the summer heat. I would do what lilydude said and buy some snap pea seeds and plant in July for a fall crop, they'll do better started directly in the garden as apposed to buying starts. Good luck

They probably were in the pot too long maybe that's why they were white.

They like full sun. They will climb up the metal fence, or you can use a big tomato cage. Before sowing the seed, mix a handful of dolomite lime and balanced fertilizer into the soil with a shovel. After the seeds germinate, mulch the soil to keep it cool and moist. Keep the plants well watered.

We planted Sugar Snap peas from seeds here in NH about a month ago, and our plants are about 4 feet tall with flowers and some pods. Actually, they should be sown as soon as the ground can be worked for Spring planting.

As for buying pea plants, I don't understand why people would buy things like corn plants, lettuce plants, pea plants or bean plants in 4 or six packs when they are so easy to start directly in the soil, avoiding transplant shock. And of course, buying seed is the much more economical option.
