Comments (41)Shee, that is too funny. I can relate to the reactions of some family members who are not obsessed with decorating the dining table. Last Christmas when DB & DSIL arrived, they took one look at my table and started calling me "Aunt Sandy", a reference to Sandra Lee, a food channel show host who includes tablescape ideas as part and parcel of her cooking show. I think there was a compliment in the comment as I've since caught a couple of her episodes. Yes, some are a bit over the top even for me, but she seems very handy and gives ideas as well reasonable and practical sources so that viewers can get a similar "look". I've always used my wedding china, over the years have collected 14 placesettings of Lenox holiday china and the happy recipient of Chalfonte "Indian Summer" china pattern, all remaining placesettings together with serving pieces -a gift from my DM. "Indian Summer" was her wedding china. I was amazed at how many pieces were intact as the china is over 50 years old. I really have no memory of seeing the china growing up which may explain why there is so much of it left. Seems as though back in the day one didn't use their china but for very special occasions. Your family is definitely going to be impressed when they see your beautiful hurricanes. I've seen your kitchen space on the decorating forum and I think you will have lot's of "wow" compliments. I do think they will look great lit on your tables for Thanksgiving dinner!...See Moreneed ideas for super-cheap kitchen update
Comments (37)I am in awe of the progress and the difference, kdw72697 !!! And your Little Helpers are just toooo precious! Let us know as soon as you decide what you are going to do with the track lighting, and any other changes, of course! :) THIS is my kind of Topic....anything to do with the words "Super-Cheap", and I'm there. Fantastic Suggestions throughout this topic and I'm so grateful you all posted them! Everyone who posted pics....THANK YOU! I am always on the look-out for new ideas, inspiration, anything "budget-minded" to freshen up my own home. The colors you've used, the kitchen set-up...all ideas that motivate and inspire me! Igloochic, Your home....always an inspiration at every turn...especially since I use paint and paint techniques to create something a little nicer than the norm (the 'norm' that I can't even afford!) ....I've used your home pics more than once to get me motivated. Here's my latest budget project...maybe someone else can benefit from it in their own budget-minded kitchen. Real Travertine Tile Trim was NOT in the budget but the discounted/discontinued tiles we purchased looked so nekkid without something on top (the discontinued tiles didn't have bull-nose or anything close to matching). A length of cheapy wood chair rail molding, some left-over stucco in the bag from an earlier window re-do and my paints and some good sealer..... (I DID resize these pics to make them smaller...I hope it worked!)...See MoreHelp! I've made terrible mistakes with LR (pics)
Comments (66)I love the furniture you've picked out. It will look bright and cheery and just the feeling of the inspiration pics you've posted in your other threads...once you paint! Paint the darn room already! :) My last house had muddy mauve and no natural light (houses on three sides and a big porch on the other). As soon as I painted, it changed everything. Even my mood was better. And if you have a front porch, I suggest you paint the porch ceiling blue. It made a big difference looking out my window and seeing Martha Stewart's Porch Ceiling Blue. Almost as good as being able to see the sky. :) Let your room evolve. Don't feel like it has to be "done" right away. Take your time finding art and accessories that you love. You're doing great and you're going to have a lovely space to enjoy....See Morega_girl
