Raised Bed Filled W/ 'Conditioned' Native Clay Soil?

The soil around my yard is heavy with clay so drainage is a major issue, it will not support a garden without much gnashing of teeth.

I've done a lot of reading and it seems that amending my heavy clay for in-ground use is a losing proposition which lead me to this silly thought:

Would it be advisable, or even feasible, to fill a 4'x4'x18" raised bed with that soil, amended about 50:50 with the cheap bags of Miracle-Gro 'soil conditioner' (partially composted wood chips, a little peat, and some fertilizer I think) I see for sale locally?

I'm hesitant to have good soil trucked in for a few reasons, but if push comes to shove (and clay+conditioner don't work) then I suppose there's no other way, so I'll just have to find a way to import.

Thanks.
