Sounds like there are 2 or 3 different products being discussed. I've had better luck growing vines on wooden supports, like lattice, than on anything made of wire - the wire apparently heats up too much in the sun and fries the tendrils of everything from sweet peas to cukes. My mom uses netting strung on metal or wood stakes for vine crops. My veggie garden fence was made from semi-rigid wire (I think it's called turkey wire) and I've never had good results growing vines up that wire. Do you think that because the wire is so thick on these it would not heat up as much?

This past year I had my first cattle panel arch in the vegetable garden. The arch is seven feet tall and five feet wide. I love it. Wish I had two more. On one side I planted cucumbers and on the other side I planted Sun Sugar Tomatoes. I harvested huge amounts of both vegetables - of course we had lots of heat and rain this year. They grew together at the top of the arch. Very cool. I did use a short stool when I picked the veggies at the very top. I did need to attach the very young vines with twist ties or string early on. Later, I occasionally had to pull and poke branches back into the mass of vegetation. As the tomatoes grew tall I would run thin string around, encircling that entire side of the arch. Every two weeks or so I tied higher every foot or so, because I knew that if I didn't, the next rain would knock the tomato branches down. I plan to rotate sides next year, planting the same veggies. Or maybe only half cucumbers and half something else. Golly I couldn't even stand to look at a cucumber at the end of the season. I put them out by the street with a "FREE" sign. People always took them.

Ok. In order for the arch to be higher, the tanks would need to be much closer together if you put them on the inside of the panel. They might be hard to get between, to weed, etc. So I would suggest you put them on the outside of the arch.(one on each side). I don't know if you considered that already as the option and pretty much have the tanks where you want them, but it looks like you wouldn't be able to weed the tank on the right, if it is right near the fencing. Have you put any drainage holes in the bottoms of these tanks? Don't put too many in. I was using about 9 food-grade stock tanks and put waaaay too many holes in them and the water would drain out much too soon, and I have to water them about every other day......which is a drag. I've tried to plug some of the holes and they're doing a big better. But mine are up on some cement blocks, and not right on the ground. I love trellis gardening. I grow (in the ground) cucumbers on both sides of the trellis and they love it. I also use my kids old swing set with fencing up one side and over it and grow winter squash, and it seems to love growing upwards.

Tete I did some googling on the "Adjusting" part and it seems like many men do it. I've just never seen it to this extreme before. I was raised in a home where lots of touching is NOT Ok when it came to the male gender, no matter what. Hugs yes..but the thigh thing, her feet on his, playing with her hair, rubbing her back. UGH :-/ I can be very old fashioned in many ways and wonder if I am overacting at times. But if it makes me queasy and uneasy -it definitely needs to be addressed. He was so offended that I made a scene (In private) he didn't talk to me for days and now he has stopped (Hand in pants) as well as the hand on thigh thing..but still The hugging up and back massages when I walk out of the room continue. :-/ Lisa..I agree. I've put my head in the sand. I friggin hate conflict. My son who is 25 and lives with his father had an odepial (sp?) type of complex around me that absolutely creeped me out. This reminds me of that and is bringing back some very hard memories on my part. And I cannot report it if I am not sure if I am being overly concerned. Does that make any sense? It would be like convicting him with no proof. A friend of his stayed the weekend here right after I moved in and didn't know the situation very well. He made a comment that the daughter was very "weird". She definitely has issues. TO eat with a baby spoon (That I threw out recently) and keep saying "I'm just a kid" (I remind her that she is an ADULT who is old enough to sign a binding contract for crying out loud!) Should I gently suggest that she needs therapy, or that they both do or all of us since we are all living together? I appreciate all of you xo
