In a moment of madness, I blasted my corn!

While watering my sweetcorn today, I had the sprayer set on "jet" to reach those stalks further away. As I stepped up to the next stalk in line I imagine the neighbors down the street heard me shriek! How was I to know there was a party goin' on?! Japanese beetles, must've been 20 of them, jammin' in one of my silk bundles, as well as a few downstairs on the next ear's silk. Without thinking, I yelled something like, "Oh, HEY-ELL NO" and blasted them with the jet-spray point-blank for several seconds. It's amazing how well those little buggers hang onto that silk. I had to pull many away with my hand. Now, thinking back, what have I done to my corn with this outburst? I know that each strand of silk is the pollen receptor for one kernel of corn. Have I goofed? I didn't think to take note of the size of the ear, does that make a difference as to whether or not the silk has already done its job?
