Moving the oven, as you are talking about, and creating a counter beside it seems like it will solve your concerns, and will make this a really nice plan, I think. PLus, the island end across from the new oven location will be helpful to you. I don't really see a shortage of counter space here, especially with those changes made... You'll gain counter where the oven is drawn now, counter beside the oven, and when you move the laundry wall back a bit, you'll also gain length to the counter run where your sink is. How will you vent the stove? Will you have a fridge that will be able to open if placed that close to a wall? Most need at least a few inches between fridge and wall for the door to open far enough for good access, to open drawers past the door shelves, etc.

Don't put the TV over the fireplace. Your necks will thank you, and you've got a great spot for it on the back of the garage wall. I also wouldn't buy a sectional. It will limit your furniture arrangements and no one ever sits in the corner anyway. Two sofas or a sofa and chairs are much more versatile, and the kids are going to want to lay all over the floor and on poufs.

I agree with Lars in that I also recommend the rubberized interlocking floor tiles (or you can have hardwood but will be much more expensive) , and you will need mirrors. Can you see the entrance from the desk? I'm not sure if you can do that. You will need to be able to have some sort of secure storage and locking cabinet or cupboard. Do you have to consider electrical needs like outlets? Some of our treadmills require a dedicated electrical line, 220V. I worked out in a small studio that had a combination of light gray on the walls accented with a burnt orange. Do you have a brand, etc. that you associated with for colors? That might play a factor?
