Look at older posts on the pitfalls of using photoshopping instead of drafting a plan view for your landscape design.

As the posters on the Rose forum suggested, such strong horizontal linear statements as the fence and rose rows need to have a vertical elements to compliment the house.

A gateway arbor in the fence line would add such an element and allow you to grow your favorite plant- roses.

Another vertical element that would help would be two additional support columns underneath the gable roof line extenstion that connnects your front door and garage. To these support columns add a wire mesh to support climing roses.

I'm pretty far North & expect nothing below the mid-40's F. for the next 10 days... you must be really far North. ;-) As others have commented above, you can harvest cowpeas (including blackeyes) either green or dry. If the pods have begun to change color or wither, you could pull those pods to dry... but it might be better to just harvest them green & shell out those with expanded pods. The shelled beans can be used fresh, or blanched & frozen. Young, immature pods can be used as snaps. In the future, there are short DTM cowpeas which are more likely to mature in short-season areas. MN 13 (which I grew this year) and MN 150 are true-bush cowpeas, bred to mature in Minnesota. If you want to grow longer-season cowpeas (including blackeyes) you might want to consider starting them as transplants. I start climbing cowpeas & yardlong beans as transplants every year, with consistently good results.

I'm rather new to Phals, but I do know that producing a keiki is a lot of hard work for the mother plant. Since you can't be sure of conditions a new Orchid, esp a Big Box Store bought one was grown in or how long it was "on the shelf", I would assume the plant is stressed and not induce keikis this year. I would cut the spent flower spike and fertilize at the first sign of new growth.

Littlebug5, I'm planning on putting baby grand piano at bottom of great room where staircase is- thinking placement there will allow light to get to rest of great room instead of blocking it with closet. Powder room: would you rather have bathroom near front door ( the entry door opens so that it should block immediate view into powder room if powder room door is open) OR powder room closer to great room where people will be spending most of the time??? My thought was that I just don't like to use a bathroom close to where people are gathered. Ohhh I don't know. Ths is hard I'm going to have to live with this the rest of my life I don't see us ever selling. We have 230 acres. Windows- yes there will be too many!!! ( they aren't all drawn on prelim- just the front elevation and I'm not sure I like the windows as drawn on the front)I told husband he couldn't have glass everywhere like he wanted though!!! My laundry/ mudroom will stay where it is but I appreciate other's opinions :) I ride horses and he hunts so this is the most important room in house. The barn will be on other side of garage. We both want our own closets too. View is ugly right now but in about 6 weeks will be beautiful with the green grass and trees

Begging for help. Begging always makes me think of food.

Maybe we have to think of landscape design much like cooking. Some flavors work well together and some don't. People also associate certain things going with other certain things. Sometimes a new thing getsstumbled upon and everyone likes it. I'm thinking peanut butter and jelly and then the stunning revelation of peanut butter and chocolate - remember hose old reese's peanut butter cup commercials?

I'm thinking a lot about spaghetti and I'm not really sure why.

I question whether there is a point to having a rendered photo if a white picket fence with rose's on it (or spaghetti for that matter). In order to create such a photo, you have to envision what rose you want and place it where you envision it should go on the photo. In other words, you really have to already envision it to produce the photo. Presumably, the goal of the photo is to help you envision something. But in reality you have envisioned it, so what is the point?

Now I'm going to cook up some spaghetti and try to figure out what will really go good with it.
