Just about every reference indicates that the butterfly/caterpillar which feeds on dill is a Black Swallowtail. The color variations in your photo look a bit different than most of the references. The closest Black Swallowtail match I found is in the link below about halfway down. So while that would be my guess, I defer to the butterfly experts. I'd bet a Butterfly Garden post will give you the right answer..

I think grandad has it right. I tried to identify it before reading his post, to see if we would come to the same conclusion. We did.

A suggestion I found, if you want to have the black swallowtail butterflies about, is to move the caterpillars from your dill and place them on Queen Anne's Lace, where they will continue feeding.

The typical BTBF cat has a very pungent odor when distrubed.

The smell reminds me of a tropical fruit gum my kids like!

I guess I shouldnt have squished them all, huh?? HAHA, oh well, I'm sure there will be more. Thanks for the help guys.

That doesn't look anything at all like the black swallowtail caterpillars I've had all over my dill and parsley. (I hope the link below works.) Swallowtail caterpillars are easily confused with monarch caterpillars, and don't look (at least to me) like your picture.
