Good bug, bad bug. How do you tell?

I realize that 95% of bugs are "good" bugs, so I guess if you don't know, then the chances are that the bug you see in your garden is doing some good. But, given the reproduction rates, letting a bug go that is bad but you think is good could overwhelm your garden in a short time and cause you to have to bring out the pesticide which could kill many more good bugs than the one you decided to spare.

So, how to tell? Everyone knows the common ones: ladybug, lacewing, praying mantis. But is there some source to help you identify which bug you are dealing with? And we haven't even touched on wasps...
