Steep Slope/terrace

Hello All!

This is my first post and I joined specifically to get help with this problem on my new house. I just bought it (haven't even closed yet) and it needs lots of work, but I've figured out what to do for most everything except for this slope along the side of the house.

It's pretty steep, drops 11 feet through 30 feet. Right now it's and overgrown, unkempt red brick walk. The top half of the house is light gray/green stone/brick. The bottom have is masonry block painted baby-blue(That clearly needs to be repainted) I've got 9 feet between the side of my house and the property line.

What are the best things to do in an area like this. I definately want stairs, and I've thought of building them out of retaining wall stones. (There are other retaining walls on the property built out of wood that area leaning and decaying, that I'm going to replace with stone)

I'll get some pictures up and reply with them.

Thanks for any and all ideas/pictures/links!
