Fava beans - storing green beans

I read somewhere that fava beans can be picked green and sun-dried and stored. I have more beans than I can use would like to store them but something (voles/squirrel) have been feasting on them from the heaps of shells that I see under the plant. In a matter of few days, I noticed a pile of what would be 10 lbs or more fava beans.

I picked some mature green beans and let them dry in indirect sun and they seem to be doing fine but I noticed if I pick green, they are fuller and larger than the ones that dry in the plant.

I wanted to check if others have picked them green and dried in the son and used later.

TIA
