Thank you guys. Yes, I should probably put Chantilly Lace on my list as well. The funny thing is, we did have our painter make us large samples of these 3 whites, but we can't tell them apart! What he did was paint big pieces of wallboard, which was already white to begin with, and I think it just overpowered the new colors. I suppose we should get some pieces of wood for him to do for us instead. I might also add that it's not just the Blizzard we're talking about here, but I'm also having a white subway tile backsplash and a white refrigerator as well, so that's a lot of whites to coordinate. I just want them all to play well together. Jay, Thanks for the update. All the cattle news is just so distressing. Our friends who were stranded near Leoti, KS, during the blizzard are back home now and posted a sad photo of dead cattle heaped up at what appeared to be a cattle feed lot. She said her dad lost cattle at his place near Leoti, but she didn't say how many head. How awful for the ranchers, and of course, for the cattle themselves. I cannot believe your snow isn't gone yet. Oh well, as it melts at least it will provide some moisture for the soil. I hope you get to plant soon. I'd be going crazy if my plants weren't in the ground yet. We are fairly dry down here overall, having been missed by most of the rain over the last couple of months (and all the snow has missed us, though I am not complaining). Between all the flooding to our northeast and the snow and blizzard to our northwest, we are just dull and boring and nothing is happening here. I'm okay with that. Dawn

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I am also leaning to towards the theory that they are scruff marks from pots or an appliance (the Vitamix was stored in that area briefly). I love bar keepers friend. However, since the countertop is so new and shiny I don't want to experiment with it too much and risk dulling it or damaging it in any way. I already tried Soft Scrub Liquid Gel with Bleach + elbow grease which is the manufacturer recommendation, and it did not help. Granted I did not let the cleaner soak for over 2 minutes. I contacted the fabricator and am waiting to hear back from them. Let me check with them about CeramaBryte and Greased Lightning cleaner.

My "not worth it" comment had to do with getting there before sunrise, not at other times. The view is nice but I don't think repeated visits are necessarily as enjoyable. My wife and I had been there several times before a subsequent trip that included our kids. They were old enough to appreciate the sights but on that trip the younger ones a bit too young for the bike trip down. We had a mid-morning hotel departure using our rental car and the drive was a bit more than they were interested in (the views along the way notwithstanding). When we parked and got out of the car, we walked to where the demi-crater could be seen and then, almost in unison, they said "can we go to the beach now?" We had several more family trips to Maui after that one and none of them were ever interested in going back to Haleakala. We offered it but to be honest, I really wasn't interested in going back either and I was glad we could do other things instead.
