Whiskey half barrels will last for many years in the elements. Make sure you are buying the real thing and not the cheap knocks offs that may be made of pine which will rot much faster.

Earthboxes (plastic) are also known to hold up well being left outside all year, even in deep freezes, but being a self watering container you wouldn't want the reservoir full in freezing temps.

Some of my foam pots have been in my garden since 1998. They have held up fine.
The only one that ever cracked had nothing to do with the weather. It was clumsy me - dropping it.

I have large and small plastic containers that date back to 1990 -- outside 7 x 24. Some large container plants include blueberries (highbush), black currants. Good luck.
