Aloe vera pups

These are the ones that grow in ca as big shrubs. I brought one back two years ago from my parents and now it has pups. I grow it outside in summer and bring in the gh during winter.

Also if any one wants pink fav or frosty pink angel trumpet cuttings. They got mixed up. Let me know....Otherwise in the garbage they go. B

Would you take the cost of postage? I wouldn't want them to go in the trash! That would be a waste!

they're probably getting fried on that west window. the insides (gel) is the plant's water reserves. you need to give them time to establish themselves. start them out in partial shade, or put a piece of light colored cloth on your west window. i dont remove the pups off my large aloe till they're 5-6 inches tall and has decent roots.

They will grow fine together. I would have simply cut the pups off as low as possible, leaving no attached roots to avoid disturbing the parent plant's roots, and inviting a melt down. Lay the pups on their side for a week or so, then plant in dry soil, and wait for roots to form. Pups need to be large enough to survive several weeks or months without getting any water. Very small pups w may not survive. Don't repot any of these for a few days to let open wounds callous. Take your time, there is no hurry to do anything.

I've had them grow like this with different Aloes, too. One that does it a lot is A. nobilis. I just wait until the bottom leaf is old enough that it's starting to dry up (as they typically do eventually) then I remove the pups... or not in some cases. I like the look of a mama Aloe with all her little puppies at her base! Must be my - uh-hum - "maternal side" peeking out! Denise in Omaha

Hi Rosepedals, Are you talking about surprise lilies and naked ladies when you say "magic lilies group"? Lycoris radiata and lycoris squamagera are what I have, the radiata is a deep pinky-red and the squamagera is a light pink. Let me know. I'd like to have a nice sized aloe, the one that gets big, and hope we can trade. Thanks, Nancy
