Seal clay pots?

kimcoco

I'm new to container gardening.

I purchased some clay pots recently from Steins. I also googled online for narrow window boxes/planters (like 5" depth or less), and I could only find one vendor that qualified for the size I'm looking for (in clay/terra cotta pottery).

I had to option to choose the sealed or unsealed planter.

What's the difference if they're sealed or unsealed? Does it matter?

These are clay and terra cotta pots. (Clay and terra cotta are one and the same right?).
