Klo, are they fire ants, by any chance? There are ant baits available for you to use. If fire ants, look for granules containing spinosad, which is approved for certified organic growers. There are several distributors (Brand names), be a good label reader. There are also liquid ant baits with boric acid as the active ingredient. Terro makes pre-filled bait trays that I really like. Place one on the soil and leave it for about 24 hours or until the ants have emptied the tray. With either of those methods, read and follow all of the label instructions. Don't disturb the ants before, during, or after but let the bait do its job. If the containers are small enough, you could try a couple of kettles worth of boiling water.

If it moved,cracked,split the same thing will happen to creet placed over it. X 100 going down hill X another 100 with wood inlays. So say there is nothing wrong with the existing creet,Nothing at all. It stll moves with the seasons like everything else solid like that exposed to the weather/sun. Or just form up and pour the thing and still get paid the second it done. J.

I stained a pool deck with Behr semitransparent stain. It started to flake off in under one year. Behr refunded my money, but the deck looks terrible now. A portion of the deck with new concrete is fine. I think the problem is old concrete doesn't take the stain. Plus the Behr stain is not a true acid based penetrating stain, but some kind of a glop that sits on top of the concrete. Good luck.

That your existing concrete is in good shape is key. Any crack in it would transfer through to the new material. So long as you create proper finish levels, you should be in good shape. Stamped concrete can look terrific. It's biggest drawback is the color not being integral to the slab, but just surface treatment. This is really no problem unless it is subject to harsh wear, which in this instance is probably not going to be the case. If the surface gets a chip or gouge, you'll see near-white concrete below. In most residential situations, it doesn't get that harsh of treatment.
