Yes you can-problem being the size of the container verus the height the plant will grow verus the weight of the fruit it will bear. Papayas are heavy and bear in bunches. The other problem is the lenght of your cold season. I grew mine under a plastic covered porch unheated save for an open door to the house. I used a box fan for circulation.
