I have 6 old windows, can I make a cold frame?

This time of year, I wish I had cold frames. It warmed up and seeds started germinating and now it's been in the 20s at night for the past 10 days. I have four 4x4 raised wooden beds and one 10 x 4 raised bed and I have 6 old windows. I bought hinges thinking I could hinge together two windows so

that I could just put an 'A Frame' of glass over plants and that would suffice. Since the cold has stuck around so long though, I don't think an A Frame is going to do me much good over night, which is when I would need it most.

Has anyone here found a way to use old windows to use in the early spring to protect growing plants from below freezing nights?

Thanks.. :-)
