Mika if it has legs it's a container. Not a raised bed. Cedar is nice wood, light and rot resistant. I wish I had some plans for you. But building one is easy. I would just say to use stainless steel screws, and don't paint the cedar. Do a google for plans. There has to be some out there. I will look too. good luck. filix.

I have used elevated raised beds for over 10 years. Actually one of my favorite ways to plant and harvest (easy on the back).

Just one tip--be sure and brace structure adequately as mix and water weigh alot.

this is what i do. don't know if it is right or wrong but works for me. bed is about 6 ft long and 24 inches wide but you can make any size that fits your need. all you need to do to this bed is add legs and take out the cattle panel.

Today I finished building two redwood planter-boxes on legs for strawberries and vegetables and will start two more tomorrow. After 17 years of using 12-inch high raised beds on the natural ground surface, my back and willpower are demanding more ease and comfort for my gardening efforts. David Beaulieu describes a simple and economical planter box of common lumber at http://landscaping.about.com/od/landscapinginsmallspaces/ss/small_yards_2.htm. I used some of David's ideas, but wanted a lighter-weight redwood or cedar box and frame. A commercial website http://www.cleanairgardening.com/squarcedcong.html has some attractive ideas and pictures.

My boxes are 2 feet by 4 feet in plan and are on legs approximately 36 inches high. The one for strawberries is 8 inches deep; the ones for other vegetables are 16 inches deep. I used a combination of redwood fence-planks 3/4" x 8" x 72" for sides and floor, and redwood stairway-balusters 2" x 2" for legs with reinforcement by a shelf beneath the box, all of which were purchased and cut without charge at my local Home Depot.

I'd like to know how you finished the bottom. Did you use hardware cloth? Building a box with legs is no problem but containing soil long term can be an issue.

Thank you for the information. Would you share your photos with me? My son wants to build a couple of these for his Eagle Scout Project, but 5-6 feet long, for a local retirement home, to help make it easier for the seniors who like to garden, but aren't able to work at ground level anymore. He has been searching for plans (so have I) with little luck.

I am working on one also....been searchin the internet. I usually use dogpile search engine.....I put in raised beds and got some on legs. I put in elevated raised beds and got someand I put in vegetable beds on legs and got more. There are some plans on some of the sites. Also I found one that is a manger raised bed and those look pretty good.
