James, WOW!! That is absolutely spectacular...Unbelievable blooms,thanks so much for posting that picture. I am not familiar with this plant, is it in the Gesneriads family? As I said before I am very new to these plants, so I am just now discovering them slowly... I am looking for a goldfish plant (Nematanthus)? I think is the scientific name. I have been reading about these plants and I really like the flowers. I have been to all my stores and nurseries here, but no one has them. I will keep looking, )o: By the way, I am directionally challenged, LOL, by west window do you mean you get direct sunlight? How many hours? Thanks again for posting the picture. GGG - I think I have mentioned this before, but how about mahonia? It is seriously deadly when it comes to sharp leaf tips. I planted some along a wall so that our kids won't be tempted to use the wall as a jumping off entertainment place. It works! I have been stuck so good that I bled and bled. Hurts! If someone tried to go through a closely planted bunch of mahonia, they would regret it. You could plant them in two rows, alternating placement, so they would form a dense barrier. The flowers smell lovely in late winter, and the berries are - I think - edible! Many species of birds love the berries too, so that is fun, if you like to watch birds. I got a bunch of mahonia from a friend - dug up some pretty mature ones, and they all survived. I also think they have a very interesting sculptural quality, depending on how you let them grow -- whether you do or don't choose to prune them. From what I can tell, they grow very well down here -- so that might be a good choice. Good luck!

Hi, OOPS sorry about that it was supposed to be HAVE strawberries I'm making room in the green house and I have strawberries to trade. These are still lush and green even though I live in z4 because they were in the greenhouse. Also have lipstick ornemental strawberries and I may still be able to trade some of the other things on my list. http://members.gardenweb.com/members/exch/catrina . Just ask if you see something you want. Some things the foliage has begun to die back. I'm only trading for z4 hardy perenials right now. No more room in the house for things to winter over. Please understand if I have to say no for the following reasons: I already have it, it's pink (sorry not fond of pink), it's not hardy here, or it's really big (I'm planting the late trades in the greenhouse and there is not a ton of room in there). Most interested in named DL's and hostas, but will consider all offers. I also have the following left from a previous post: -Tradescantia fluminensis - wandering Jew (green small leaf, green with white stripe large leaf or purple striped large leaf)(cuttings) -Tradescantia pallida (purple) -Coleus - green purple and fusha (large rooted or cuttings) * -Bacopa -sushni -bloody dock -cannas - dark maroon leaves with red flowers very tall - amaryllis - red with a white star - scented geranium - apple (rooted) - night blooming cerus - cuttings - spider plants - green (babies and full sized plants), - purple african violets Thanks for considering this trade! wilma seems to be a dwarf yellow variation .. which mean is would grow much slower than your green version ... the annual growth rate is what determines how fast a given plant will grow ... plus... the length of your growing season ... which begs the question.. where are you.. big city name ... conifers.. which are trees... never stop growing.. its just a matter of multiplying out the annual growth rate.. basically forever ... in the pic.. yours is going to be a beast.. and im wondering if you have the yard for a gang of these beasts ... rather than wnat to plant more beasts.. if you give us a better idea of how much space you have.. where you are.. etc ... we might make other suggestions more attuned to said space .. the size you buy is up to you ... but a smaller transplant will recover form the pot and grow faster inside say.. 5 years... as compared to a huge transplant due to stress ... budget was always my decision ... how many other things can i buy when i bought small .. besides.. with the fence.. it doesnt seem like this is some instant gratification need ... in other words.. i had more time than money.. and would rather wait ... ken
