At a recent conference of architects held in London one topic was "Should urban projects have an artist on staff?" I thought this was a peculiar question (I am trying to get a transcript of the answers) as it seemed to exclude the possibility that an architect could be an artist. It could be that they meant someone to present the project rather than have any input on the actual design, I am not sure. How does this relate to landscape architecture do you think? When we design a garden do we see the process compartmentalized with hard scape being one department plants being another and design something else and is any of it the work of an artist?
