I hope that the pictures showed up ok, or none of this will make sense.

I have my house on the market and I have no curb appeal at all. Right now, it's winter and everything is dead. It makes the front of the house look very ugly but in the spring and summer the front looks pretty good. What can I do in the meantime to make it better? I have a lot of azaleas close to the house (in the picture with the tree and shrub on your left)that bloom beautiful purple flowers and I had some sort of bright pink/purple viney (for lack of a better word) type flowers in front of those. They looked like trumpets I guess. There used to be big, prickly shrubs there at one time, but they were hard to weed around and prune, so I cut them out. The only way to make them look nice was to make them square, but that's boring. Now, the entire front of the house is very boring and needs some help. Can anyone give me some tips? I have no skill in this at all.

Here's what the hastas look like in the spring and summer and what the shrubs used to look like when they were there. I hope you can see the picture.
