After looking around my yards I can also offer a few more things in trade. Heavenly Bamboo seedlings, Blue Chinese Wisteria Seedlings and Dogwood seedlings (white). My Poets Daffodils could use a little sorting also. I could prob spare about 20 of them. Thanks Again!

I have never seen any Michigan wild blueberries, though they do exist. I will probably grow some once I move. Not easy to get, but some places have them. I'm still in shock and awe over how much better home grown tastes. I never even liked strawberries that much, as I apparently never had good ones. Now that I have tasted my own, I added a 8x12 ft area to grow even more. And I still will be growing a few in hanging baskets, and wherever I can fit them. They are awesome! I do grow June, everbearing, alpines, pineberries, and musk strawberries. White, red, and yellow.

Thank you all! I know that some of them are actually Z5. We like fresh sweet fruits. Sour cherry, etc. are good for cooking and I don't like to cook them. We have lots of raspberries and strawberries. I love to grow sweet blackberries, like the ones in Seattle. But they may not grow too well here. The store bought ones here are VERY sour. We do have 2 small apple trees and 1 peach tree. They are all wild, came up by themselves. We love blueberries. I have tried growing thme several times, but not successful. The peach tree came up where I planted a blueberry. It bloomed the last 4 years or so, but it has not yet done so this year. There are lots of buds, but I am afraid they are all winter killed. One of the apple tree must be Golden Delicious. They are actully sweeter than the store bought ones. Plastic bags may not work for me. In the past, they disappeared before fully ripen. I put small plastic water bottles around the apples last year and the animal(s) could not get them. The year before, I put paper bags one them, but they were all ripped off. Any other thoughts? I'm trying to figure out the best fruit trees to plant in my backyard in Minneapolis. Besides a dwarf honeycrisp, I'm considering plum, cherry, apricot, peach, & crabapple. Here are the features I'm looking for: * showy flowers in the spring * doesn't get too big (small backyard) * self-pollinating preferably so I don't need 2 of each * good tasting fruit, maybe even right off the tree? * maybe a crabapple with fruit I could collect to make wine What are you favorites? Which ones have been most reliable and good to eat? Thanks!
