Mix for tree seedlings that will be planted out in 1-2 yrs?

Hello,

I'm starting several paw paw (Asimina triloba, not papaya) seedlings this spring with an eye toward planting them in the ground in the spring of 2011 or 2012. I started some last year in Miracle Grow potting mix with some added perlite. They did pretty well, reaching 8 to 14 inches in height. I can see that the soil level has collapsed a bit, and this year I am trying some in the 5:1:1 mix, and some in the gritty mix.

However, I'm starting to wonder how the trees will do when planted in the ground, which is quite high in clay (although it is well drained), since the ground will be so much different than the potting medium. Is that something to worry about? I mean, is there additional transplant shock when the tree goes from a really well aerated potting mix into the soil, like they've been "spoiled" by the cushy conditions of the 5:1:1 or gritty mix?
