Hmmm... You can also find a good deal at the Touch of Nature site (actually better than 1/$1 -- they have some still "regularly priced" that are 10/$7, in addition to some in quantities of 20 on sale). The people are very nice and have a high rating on Garden Watchdog. I really like this company.

If you don't see what you want on sale, I was told, feel free to give a call or send an e-mail asking whether you can get it at a discount (how's that for service? I didn't take him up on it, though, because I am completely out of space for this year). They promise to send more daffs if you order $50 worth of stuff, and they'll give you a 10% discount on your first order (but they won't take it off the sale stuff).

They also have really nice vases for forcing hyacynth that are prettier in person than in the picture. :)

Or, you can try John Scheepers. They may still have some things, but they're regular price. Only stuff on VE site is discounted -- still at a measley 20%, almost exactly a month after the "sale" started.

I'd love to check out Touch of Nature, but their site is not user friendly to me who is computer challenged. I was able to click on 'Specials' and didn't see anything there I needed or didn't already have.

I wanted to look at the fall catalog, but it has to be downloaded, (and then printed? and my printer is not working now, and my computer just seems to freeze, and I have to exit the browser. Maybe it is locked up but still downloading???? Grrrrrr)

Can anyone tell me what, if anything, I might be doing wrong?

I found the 'right' place to go without having to download the catalog, and will sign up to hear about the 'specials' in the future.

I am so relieved, but now must go plant bulbs, and will have to check out the sale sometime tonight.

I'm a little concerned for you Sue. You are far off into the deep end of a bulb obsession...... do you need any company? I'd be glad to join you!

I showed remarkable restrain when I followed the links. I held strong even when I saw the amaryllis bulbs for $2 a piece (who can't fit in another few amaryllis?). I think I'm in the clear as far as the fall bulbs go, the wheelbarrow full of dirt in the garage is almost empty and most of the bulbs are potted up. If only the ground would freeze again and we would get some snow. That would cure me till about late January.

Hmmmm. Next summer you might want to trade away some of those bulbs in order to make room for more late fall purchases.... I bet you wouldn't have too much trouble finding someone to trade bulbs with!

Thanks for your concern. I am starting to get more than just a little concerned for myself. I think I could just about ignore 'having' to order more daffs from Touch Of Nature, (since I now have 'most' of those varieties)but cannot quit thinking about the fall blooming crocus, Sativus - 'Saffron' Lilac flowers, 25 for $12.50!!!

So if/when (and it will probably be 'when') I place the order for the crocus, I may as well order any and all daffs I don't already have...right?

I'd say you probably 'need' these too, since I now know how you are, but can you sneak yet another box in past wifey?
Can you tell her you shopped for your own Christmas present early, and now she need not get you anything else?

I have not forgotten you...just need to get the lead out.

Now, does anyone else know of anymore bulb sales going on yet this fall?

hehe. I was using the "christmas present to myself" excuse last month. I'm working with "early birthday present" now..... In a couple more weeks I'll just put everything under the "I bought it for the house so that the yard looks nice this summer" category.

Did you order the crocus?? I have some of them already, they're doing well enough but I don't really like them. Let me know if you don't get them, I have a few clumps.

I just got off the Van B. site. I didn't see anything I wanted but all that did was put me into a panic over the bulb sale that I may have missed. If there were any 60% off colchicums and I missed them, I'm going to be very angry!

No I did not order from Touch of Nature, but don't think I can pass up the Fall Blooming Crocus at Van B. I'd love some of what you have when it is the right and best time for you to send...like next season...right?

Did you check out the fall blooming crocus? Do they really bloom in the fall, as opposed to late winter, which they now will if I do order and get them planted yet. I think I need all 4 that are still in stock.

I'm sitting here thinking yeah, I could use another "hit" of bulbs.... just a quick hit, it'll be the last one of the season.... the wife will never have to know.
I think I have a problem... no I don't....Arrrgh!

Alina you're not helping with your links. You're just getting me into more trouble! lol. I think they are all crocus (lucky for me, I would have ordered them on the spot if they were colchicums)
Actually one of them is not a crocus. The yellow ones are sternbergias and I don't think they're as hardy as Van B says they are. I just looked on B&Becky's and they say 6 is the limit of their hardiness. I used to see them growing wild down in Texas and thought they were nice.... actually I think I did see them once in NY though. Maybe they are a little hardier.....

Hmmm Sue. You really are tempting me. I better think about it until it's too late and I don't have to make a decision. that will be my plan.

Of course on the up side, the one that I have is the one that is sold out. I have the Sativus and it bloomed back in late October. It's got leaves now and will be that way until later next spring.... then it will be perfect for digging and mailing!
