Great suggestions already. Yes, you can get Ice Follies quite cheaply in the stores in fall. Don't get too many of this one. As Chemocurl said, it multiplies very quickly. The earliest Daff to bloom for me is Rijnveld's Early sensation. It blooms much earlier than Muscari, though. I believe it blooms with rock garden Iris. I have blue Iris reticulata 'Harmony'. Next to bloom in my garden is a miniature daff Tete-a-Tete. If you would like to pair Daff with something blue, I would like to suggest Scilla sibirica, because it blooms before Muscari. I believe it starts to bloom in March and continues to bloom for a very long time, whereas my Muscari does not bloom until April. Scilla sibirica ÂSpring Beauty is much larger than the species. I have both. They multiply very well when happy. This is Narcissus Tete-a-Tete with Scilla sibirica. My garden is stuffed with daff and blue Scilla sibirica. I aim for blooming succession and fragrance. Most of these are white. A few are soft yellow. The fragrant ones are: -all the Poeticus series (I have Actea and PheasantÂs Eye), -all the Jonquilla series (I have a couple whose name elude me at the moment  one maybe Jonquilla Simplex), -all the Tazetta series (I have Geranuim and Sir Winston Churchil. Extremely fragrant late bloomers). Had Earlicheers but disappeared after a few years. -Thalia, Fragrant Rose, Ice Follies, Carlton, Fragrant Breeze, Patrel: this one is soft yellow and smells like primrose, absolutely lovely, -Tripartite:this one is the latest bloomer, usually buried by perennials by then. -Fragrant Daffodils that I donÂt have, but neighbor does: White & Yellow Cheerfulness. -There are a few miniatures that are supposed to fragrant but I have not tried them. I have not had much luck with mini daffs, except Tete-a-tete. Others died on me. Hope these suggestions will help you make a decision on choices. I have the common Muscari that smells lovely. You can get smaller quantity from John Scheepers, its sister company, John Scheepers link Colorblends is also very good, but it does not carry as many varietires as VE/JS above Coloblends link. Lol DonÂt order Lilies for VE/JS, though, if you are particular about the lilies you want. They would send you the wrong ones quite often.

When I put in freesias I just dug away an area and placed them all and then carefully covered them, no individual holes dug. Since you have different depths for your types you have, you can layer them. You hyacinth and tulip would be deeper than crocus and freesia. I'm not sure about digging any up in your area, someone else will know, but if you do dig them you wouldn't want to layer them. I would allow some space for naturlizing if it is a concern to you. You will want to plant the shorter ones in front so they can be seen compared to others blooming at the same time. I think your watering is WAY more than they need and they will rot. I water mine once a day 5am for 5 minutes in summer and less often during winter. Depends on your soil and how sun, wind etc you get also. I'm just stingy with water being in a drought. ps-good luck in keep crocus around if you've got squirrels, chicken wire placed near top of soil would help though.

Some bulbs survive early planting better than others. Anemones and Ranunculus will put out leaves off and on throughout the winter and still bloom on schedule. Tulips and Daffodils will sprout early and the flower buds will sometimes be damaged by freezing temps - sometimes this means NO flowers come springtime, sometimes it means screwed up flowers come springtime, sometimes you'll hardly notice the difference. It all depends on the weather and what species of plant you're trying to grow. There are daffodils that start blooming this early in the year - if you planted one of these you shouldn't notice any difference. Most often the winter blooming species have fewer blooms than the springtime bloomers (in my opinion). Though bulbs are offered for sale from late summer on - the optimum time to plant is after it gets cold and stays cold. The problem is you have to store the bulbs somewhere cool and dry in the meantime.

I usually use annuals like petunias or 30-36 inch snapdragons toward the garden bed edges. I try to position spring bulbs in sections that are viewable when blooming, but covered by taller perennials later in the spring/summer. I plant peonies in the corners and then cut back the greens on the peonies to nicely shape the bushes. The bushes are still pretty and stay green all season, and they cover up the dying bulbs. I try to keep the outside of the bed open to put annuals, thereby covering up the dying foliage of the spring bulbs. I also interplant allium (I call them the purple pom-pom flowers). They bloom later than the early spring bulbs and cover up the drying foliage nicely. Along the sunny edge of the bed I plant iris since they need to have the sun shining on the rhizomes to bloom. Good idea to take care of it while you can still see the dying foliage - on several occasions I have been surprised by a tulip or daffodil growing out of the middle of my perennials! :)
