Yes, I have the Opal Creek sugar snaps, got them last year from Peace Seeds. But I have heard that Golden Sweet is the same as the India Golden at Kitchen Garden Seeds. The description says they are best eaten small, and I am looking for something that we can let get a little bigger. I have read blog entries for a gardener in England who has bred a new yellow snow pea, and its sister line, another yellow snap pea, but she doesn't seem to be offering seeds (or if she is, it is to a select few). So I guess I will plant a few breeding vines at the end of the beans rows, away from the peas (so my children don't eat my breeding efforts!!!) and try crossing a few flowers. Good to know. Thanks. I'll stick to my snow pea pods. But that must be why there are so many of them. They must be reseeding like crazy.

The seed can OnLY form where the flowers are... no seed formed because (1) none fertilized (2) flowers steril (3) environmental conditions (4).....

I spent a long time podding peas today! Fortunately the grandies came around do I set them to work. They had a little friend with them who thought peas only came in frozen packets! I think it was luck not management.I've never had such a yield! I planted them really thickly it rows only about 2 inches apart, shoved a load of short canes in for them to climb up and the weather did the rest - the right conditions when they flowered and the right amount of rain to make them fat. We had broadbeans tonight with some sprouting broccolli, some of last year's carrots out of the freezer and a nice pork fillet rolled in fennel seeds and baked in the oven. Life's good!
