Tulip Help- Totally new at gardening

I'm so new, I just posted this on the 'growing from seeds' forum by mistake. Uggh.

Anyway, so I'm very very new to gardening. But I'm really enjoying it and I'm learning so much every day.

A friend of mine gave me a few left over tulip bulbs that she had bought online and I can't wait to plant them.

But, being the novice that I am, I really need to be walked through this, step by step.

Can they be grown indoors in containers? I get very bright direct sun (too bright for most of my other plants) during the mornings and afternoons (east and south facing windows), so I don't think light will be too much of a problem.

Do they need to be chilled? I'm assuming if they are from an online nursery, that ships to certain zones, at certain times, that they are ready to plant right away. Is that right?

Sorry for sounding like such a dimwit, but hopefully in a few months of hanging around this wonderful forum that I've just discovered, I'll be able to give others useful advice as well.
