something eating my impatiens at night
Comments (6)I just can't see cats eating impatiens. This must be some underfed alleycat! Try setting out catfood, see if it's eaten instead, and you'll know it's a cat. u probably don't have opossums in the city, right? They are omnivores, and will eat ANYTHING. A good cat and opossum repellent? A dog! Hope it works out for you....See Moresomething's biting off my impatiens heads!
Comments (3)Do you have a cat? My kitties love nothing better than tender little green seedlings. They did in my impatiens, my bunny tails, and about a dozen other things last year before I caught it!! I planted cat grass for them this year, but I can't say whether or not they've given up on the other things. I don't have many tiny seedlings in the house this year because I wintersowed!...See Moresomething is getting to my impatiens
Comments (2)We are experiencing the EXACT same problem with our impatiens. This is the first time it's happened, and we have had successful gardens before. I have been told it's snails getting to them and to use mothballs around the edge of the garden to keep them out. We tried that bait too, in pellet form, and it didn't help at all. This is also the first time we haven't put down mulch. I'm thinking this is the key more than anything....See MoreSomething eating my plants.

I couldn't figure out what was defoliating my plants until I went out last night and saw SWARMS of them on my plants. I have some photos of the damage in the link below. Here is a link that might be useful: Attack of the earwigs...See More- 17 years ago
