How long have your Crape myrtles in question been established in your landscape? Were they struggling in any way for the prior two growing seasons; if you have had them that long? Have they suffered from the last two years' summer and winter droughts, which affected alot of the country, over that same period of time? Have they also been hit the last two years with late freezes from which they struggled to recover? If not; then, yes, your CMs should recover nicely. If they have, over the last two years, been hit by similar, or even different such struggles as described above; there is no assurance they will be able to bounce back, with no significant consequences. Best potential: they bounce back with no noticable affects; possibly they may releaf and send up new growth with minor trunk damage. Worst: you find that you need to cut lots of non-producing wood back drastically; inorder, for each particular CM affected to be enabled to help its new growth to flourish enough for the roots to be feed well all summer long and even be enhanced when its blooming and canopy's growth slow as the high and low temps cool this coming fall.

I spent most of Thursday planting 4 big pots. They contain mostly coleus, a few impatiens and zinnias. They'll sleep in the garage tonight and tomorrow night. Ditto tomatoes and the other annuals living in trays on my porch- torenia, begonia, zinnias... Guess all my plants will be sleeping in the garage and I will be parking in the driveway. My wintersown things still in jugs I'll most likely just cover with sheets. Each jug only has a few sprouts anyway. Since my WSown Yvonne's salvia were failures this year I was counting on volunteers. They might be goners, too, after this weather, but they might take a little frost OK. They've done it before. I have found that they produce little when you do this. Better off replanting. You could also develop disease on the stressed plants

In general, peas can go 2 week after the first frost. So get you to about Nov. 10. You are very tight if planting now. Two or three weeks of harvest the most?
