Which Scabiosa is darker?

I was traded seeds for Scabiosa Ace of Spades/ Chat Noir/ Black Night last year. When I planted them I just mixed them up. Now I'm wondering which are which, there seem to be two colors. One is more maroon and one is a very deep dark purple.

The pics on line make them look about the same color. Has anyone grown these and can say which is the darker color?

If it helps some of the lighter scabiosa plants have extra tiny leaves growing from the center of the flower. Sort of like a double decker coneflower. It looks like a pineapple top.

If any of this makes sense I'd appreciate some help.

I've got some seeds by trade that are black knight and they are very deep and dark. But I have nothing to compare it to. black knight is almost black looking to me. Sorry if I can't help much.

Yeah, I think the pics on line are manipulated to look equally dark which makes on-line id'ing really hard.

I am in Zone 5 or 6, so all I can tell you is that the labels on some of the gaillardia I've purchased have stated that they are perennial up to Zone 10. I think most of the scabiosa says up to Zone 9. But I would look on the internet at places that sell the plants and see what they advise. Or maybe there's a forum on here for gardening in hot areas?

To me, different manufacturers have different colors of BC. I've only seen one retailer sell BT and you will want to stay far away from LL and that Bellajunkwood.

The photo above of DB doesn't truly represent the real thing, according to what I see on my monitor. Here is my foyer - during our move - showing the darker gold Decatur Buff. This photo, looks the same on my monitor, as it does when I look toward my foyer. I think the color is richer than the Wilmington Tan, although both are pretty. Another pic of DB, with more light (you can see part of the foyer in the background.)

It's a mom and pop tile place that's rather protective of their samples, which is why I haven't brought samples home. So all this time I had a slight preference for the darker just because if the kitchen was its own universe, it would be nicer I think. I didn't think it was as important to think about how it related to the rest of the floor. But I'm hearing that even though the darker may look nicer in and of itself, coordinating with the rest of the house is important. People don't do mismatched floors? :)

I'm not sure which burgundy Scabiosa I had because it came in a mix from Stokes Seed called 'Finiest Mixed'. Seems someone on the wintersow forum mentioned possibly Mourning Bride?

Those are really neat! When I saw the picture of Knautia 'Ebony & Ivory', I snapped them up. Darn! I think what I wanted were scabiosa!
