You can interplant the daffs and lilies, or plant them separated, your choice. The thing to avoid is planting the daffs in front of the lilies because you'll have to watch the foliage dying. Of course if you hide the daff foliage too well then it won't receive enough sun. Anyway, plant them how you want and see how it goes. Interplanting will make it more "fun" when you need to divide in a few years :)

"Bouquet style" is just a way of telling you to plant in bunches. Personally, I don't like this approach, it is a poor substitute for a well-planned bed plus a couple of years to mature. A single daffodil is a lonely thing and straight rows of evenly-spaced bulbs can also be boring, but I find evenly spaced "bouquets" of ten daffodils to be just as horrible. Either get enough bulbs to plant a good solid drift throughout the relevant areas of the bed, or expect to wait a few years for it to mature nicely. Daffodils will naturally multiply themselves into clumps that you will never duplicate by "bouquet" planting.

I would have thought that any daffodil (almost any?) will be finished by the time the daylilies flower, but I'll let someone more local offer advice on that. If you want something to flower with the lilies, look to Iris.

I plant daffodils in little diagonal rows like this:

If you planted little diagonal rows of 3-5 per row, then you can plant daylilies in front like this:

I've also planted with clumps of daffodils outside and the daylilies inside. While the daffodils were dying down and the daylilies were putting on bloom spikes, there was a whole drift of Silene blooming in a drift.

Crape Myrtles are coming into bloom now so there'll be summer color and there are marigolds (seed sprinkled as I pulled up the Silene) coming on that should last until frost.

What I'm trying to portray here is that the daffodils have their turn, followed by overseededed annuals to hide the dying foliage and then the daylilies (and lilies, in my bed) come into their own. I like to plant something to follow the daylilies, in this case, summer annuals and small shrubs.
