These bulbs were planted under a shrub that we cut back last year. We had no clue these were there until this spring.

It might be Purple Sensation or Acapulco.

How fast do yours multiply?

In my climate some cultivars will form a clump of 5 from one bulb after 3 years. Not a terribly fast multiplier.

It's called Iris Reticulata. I have tons in my garden and they increase each year. As I'm in Italy, they have already flowered and died off.

In 7b, Iris reticulata will also have bloomed and died back. They are some of the earliest of the spring bloomers. It looks like Dutch iris, Iris x hollandica, which looks similar in flower structure to reticulata but is taller and blooms later in the spring.

Very pretty. When did it bloom or is it blooming now. It's likely the folks at the Iris Forum may be able to give an exact ID...with the complete info provided them.
