How soon can or should I dig my Ranunculus bulbs?
Comments (6)allow them to turn brown, then just lift them out and store until you are ready to plant again. I just know off the soil and allow them to dry and "wait" on a cardboard flat of some sort in a closet or corner of the garage. You might use a paper bag after they've dried. They are really small and light therefore easy to forget about if I store them in a small bag...grins....See MoreHAVE: Assorted Tulip, Ranunculus Bulbs, Geranium etc

Comments (2)When I put in freesias I just dug away an area and placed them all and then carefully covered them, no individual holes dug. Since you have different depths for your types you have, you can layer them. You hyacinth and tulip would be deeper than crocus and freesia. I'm not sure about digging any up in your area, someone else will know, but if you do dig them you wouldn't want to layer them. I would allow some space for naturlizing if it is a concern to you. You will want to plant the shorter ones in front so they can be seen compared to others blooming at the same time. I think your watering is WAY more than they need and they will rot. I water mine once a day 5am for 5 minutes in summer and less often during winter. Depends on your soil and how sun, wind etc you get also. I'm just stingy with water being in a drought. ps-good luck in keep crocus around if you've got squirrels, chicken wire placed near top of soil would help though....See MorePlanting ranunculus
Comments (3)Hi! I planted ranunculus bulbs in a large planter this past April. I soaked them in luke warm water for one hour (After doing a little reading up on soaking the bulbs I only went w/ one hour. A 24 hour soak can turn them to mush.) and then planted them (toes/bananas down) two inches deep. They spent many sunny days in April on my south deck and I brought them in at night. I had buds popping within a few weeks. Now it's June 1st and my ranunculus are huge! I planted several colors all in one large container, so once they begin to bloom it will be quite the display. They receive full sun on my deck and I water them religiously. Good luck!!...See Morecynthianovak
