Glad to be of help! That Calypso bulbosa was my biggest challenge to find. During its ephemeral blooming season, I'm usually being overrun with new born lambs and calves. It's hard to justify leaving to take pictures of flowers! They're also in far shadier locations than the others that I found. It could be part of being somewhat colorblind, but I had a heck of a time before first seeing them. (I have more issues with reddish/greenish visuals. Like peaches in a tree!) Keep in mind that many native orchids are very ephemeral. As most of the blooming is in the spring, the show is probably over. I'm just guessing based on what happens here. I haven't been up to check on the Cyp. californicums in months. I know where many of the areas are and could find them, but the flowers are certainly gone by now! Keep an eye out for unfriendly/hungry wildlife! "Lions and tigers and bears! Oh, my! ..." I am always armed when I go out in my back pasture, let alone into the wilderness area. It's extremely easy to get your focus down to just what you're doing and lose track of what's going on around you. Mountain lions are my biggest concern, although we do have bears. On that note... I hate to say this but you need about a quarter of one. New Dawn is not a good choice for an arbor......unless it's 12 feet wide and 12 feet tall. New Dawn would need serious amounts of pruning to keep at bay and it has viscious thorns......and even then I don't think you could reasonably keep it in bounds for very long. You don't say what zone you're in so maybe if you're in a very cold region you may get away with it but even then I doubt it. New Dawn is best on a very large trellis or in open space. I grew one that I continued to peg to the ground and it eventually reached 35 feet around and 8 feet tall......mostly because it kept rooting to the ground where pegged, but you get the idea. Hopefully you can go to plan B. Michael

I think that you should try to grow the plant where you want it and see how it does before going to any expense first. AVs are quite tolerant of various environmental conditions. If the light is the room is bright indirect light (recommended), your plant(s) should do well. AVs do well in average light level, while direct light will stunt or burn them. The plants you buy at the box stores are usually Optimara's that have been hybidizes to grow well for the average home grower, sturdy and easy to grow. I recommend starting with them first before you invest in the more specialized hybrids which can have strictter enviromental needs to grow successfully. Happy Growing!

Pretty sure you'd sub 1:1... I never pack my brown sugar, because I find that no recipes is "harmed" using a bit less sugar. I scoop and level, then add.. Yes you can sub brown sugar.
