What is happening with my Wave Petunia?

I just planted a Wave Petunia I picked up at the garden center last night. I decided to use an old, rusty wheelbarrow we have. There are already holes in the bottom so it drains...I also added a layer of river rock at the bottom, and filled the rest with Potting Soil. I didn't loosen the roots when I planted it, but I did water it that night. Today I came home, and this is what I found (see picture). As you can see the flowers that were nicely bloomed when I planted it are already wilting. I felt the soil, and the soil didn't feel really moist, but not really dry either, if that makes sense.....just cool, but couldn't really tell either way on moisture. Tonight I unburied it, and loosened the roots, and then gave it a good drink from above again. Any thoughts?

As you can see the blooms on the trailers are now flopped onto the dirt....not really thriving or reaching towards the sun like I thought they would be. The plant looked nice when I put it in last night.
