They need good drainage, but regular water and fertilizer for continual blooms, sun for a good 4 to 6 hours and the crown of the root ball needs to be an inch or so above the soil line because they are prone to root wrought. These are such rewarding plants, they share their beautiful flowers from early spring until winter here in zone 8. I have had great success with them in both the grown and in pots. They didn't do so well inside.

Al and Viola Thanks for your responses. I will let the Gerbera's go dormant, and put them under carport next to garage along with all my other annuals. If necessary, I will move them into the garage. I have the room to shelter them (carport, insulated garage, basement), but was hoping I could keep them blooming. But that's okay, I'd rather let them go dormant and have them come back next year, than lose them trying to keep them blooming! Appreciate your help! Kris

My name is pronounced similar like that too, but the tone could be different as Chinese Pinyin has 4 tones for each word spelled in English letters, but that doesn't mean we have the same name, for same Pinyin and same tone can still come out with different character in Chinese writing. The character for my name is çÂÂ. Sorry, that's a bit too much beyond plants here. Updates for my gerbera, I pulled the whole stack out of the pot as you said and removed half of the soil in the bottom then put it on some dry news paper for almost whole day today and the removed soil out under the sun for drying too. Then I put everything back to the pot and let it sit close to a window with morning sun through the veil curtain. I can see there are a few tiny green looks like new leaves coming out from the stem, so I really hope this is good sign that it's getting back to live. I see chlorosis and leaf miner damage...keep in mind that most Gerberas are bred and grown to be temporary potted gift plants not for garden performance.
