Or, heel it in (in ground pine-bark mulch) at some out-of-the-way place in the yard, in some shade, where it can be ignored (except watered) until you want it.

We have our own lovely native Veratrum viride and californicum. Your plant has a slim chance of being californicum. Take a walk around Trillium Lake at the end of July to be treated to quite a display on the western shore. Very poisonous. Portland nursery used to sell some in the shade house in the back.

Another common bulb which seems to ignore its zone designation are Dutch Hyacinths. I have some white and pink ones which have been coming back for years - if not as large in flower as the first year - and very strong scented. Most all hybrid freesia you can buy have no scent. If you can get the true white species - those have the original fragrance. There is a white (with yellow throat) Sparaxis hybrid which grows like mad, but never seen it for sale - must just get lucky with a mixed bag. My original was dug from a rental property. Anyway Sparaxis can naturalize. Lastly the common Spanish bluebell Hyacinthoides hispanica, is the same family as the lily of the valley - comes in white, pink and blue - but only the blue here is naturalized. I don't get bulbs from Costco in general, sometimes you get lucky (got a bag of mixed purple Eucomis which were excellent) , but mostly they have bulbs which are not appropriate for zone 9/10...
