Yes, they would love your cool house, but like all bulbs, corms, etc., they do need a rest period. So they don't bloom continuously.

You can order the corms from most any mail-order company.

Yes your Ranunculus will love 40 to 50 degree temperature. They will need good light however. My ranunculus are about 6 inches tall now and they have withstood almost constant rain and temperatures in the 40 and 50s. You must wear really warm clothes around the house. If my wife would agree to those temperatures we could save $300 a month on heating bills!! Al

Thank you very much for the information. When I say that "they continuously bloom", I mean they can have multiple flowers over a period. I think tulips, etc, have one flower per bulb per year. I know I can purchase them via mail order. The minimum quantity is 16 bulbs plus $10+ shipping. God, I remember they were 75 cents a bag in California.

Last year, my Lowes (or Home Depot--they blurr together) had tons of Ranunculus (one of my favorites), but it was in March, I think. They may get them in soon, since they are one of the earliest bedding plants they offer. Personally, I've never had good luck growing them from corms--no matter what I do, the blooms are never as large and beautiful as those from the nursery.

Thank you for the information. Do you remember whether they are potted plants or packages of bulbs? My plan is to plant them in December. They will have cold temperature and sunny south window then.

I purchased a bag of ranunculus "bulbs" at the local nursery because they were on super clearance. 20 for a $1. I've never planted them before so I figured what's the harm?

I opened the bag and they look like little leggy sticks! Which end is "up" when I plant in the soil? Also, is it too late to put them in now? It is February in San Diego, so all my plants are constanstly schizophrenic and don't know what they are supposed to be doing.

The mutiple legs are the bottom. You are so lucky. We don't have these in Central NY. I ordered 8 for $5. They cannot take temperature higher than 60.

I actually found some last year at Price Chopper in Oswego last year...you may want to check when they put bulbs out again this year.

Hey - gosh it's hard to find info on growing these little guys! I am in central MN/zone 4/5, and am trying my hand at indoor forcing some ranunculus bulbs/tubers. It's early March right now, so it's too early to put them in the ground, so I'm impatiently starting them indoors. I've followed all the planting guidelines I've read, the temps and light requirements, and I still cannot find out.... how long until these guys sprout? I'm thinking it must be different than growing them conventionally outside, as there was no chilling period and my window location must be different than in the ground. ANYONE know what my time frame might be on these ranunculus bulbs?
