What about Sedge Peat?

quiet

I've been reading quite a few books from the library and browsing in stores when I shop for a new tree and in some of them. If you place sedge peat on a slate or a humidity tray, you can then place your soil in the area made by the peat.

What kind of stuff is this? It sounds like it gets hard almost like a kind of Crete. I've looked in a lot of stores but I'm afraid to ask. It's not Sparghum Moss Peat I don't think. Or is it?
