I placed an order with a tropical plant site last night. They say they have Miracle Fruit plants, and they are $35. I'll be interested to see what actually arrives, an I'll keep everyone posted. They need to learn about Search Engine Optimization. They never came up when I was looking a few nights ago. I cam across them by accident, while looking for an Acai. I may as well get all of the fad fruits while I am interested. DH actually isn't that worried, I think he is just surprised that I found a guy to be buddies with this time. This is the same behavior I displayed when I got into quilting ten years ago. I went nuts, bought everything I could find, and dragged him to every quilt shop I could find when we were on vacation. The only big change is that I am dirtier now, and if I neglect my stuff it dies. I don't hear too many complaints from him when he sits on the sofa, wrapped in a quilt, eating home grown cucumber salad. Jen

GG- thank you for sharing those links with me! David- I think you have the most awesome set up- I love how neat everything is- all in rows :) The plants are just gorgeous! I agree with Kelly- MORE than impressive! Isn't it nice(or perhaps slightly weird) to know so many people are living vicariously through your photos?!? lol I've added another 5 Hoya just this past week, and my 'want' list is still a mile long! Hubs is starting to worry that I may have a hoarding problem. I told him it was okay until we could no longer use certain rooms of the house, then I would agree that I might have a *slight* problem. Thank goodness all this is giving him the motivation to get moving on building me a small greenhouse! Of course, he thinks that the house will be less 'plant-full', but we all know that it just means more room for more plants!

I liked the Marang and sought it out on our last trip. The flesh was soft which I didn't mind and the flavor was excellent. Comparing it to jak fruit, I'd say jak wins out, especially if you are talking about eating large amounts of fruit or eating it often. Another plus for jak it they are easier to grow in moderate climates. Some pluses for the Marang, the fruits were small, I could have eaten a whole one by myself, they are easier to open and had minimal latex. One negative, it lives up to it's name Artocarpus odoratissimus, it's odor reminds me of oxidized diesel fuel when it is ripe.....and when you burp later on. We stunk up the hotel with durians and marangs. :) -Ethan

I think we get some of these samples first in Canada. I know Kerdi Board and Laticrete Sheet membrane first where launched in BC. I have yet to see Hydro Board, but would guess if it is anything like Kerdi Board it is nothing more than some kind of semi rigid foam covered with Hydro Ban. In the past five years there are three stand outs for me in the "Worst Innovation Award" At the top of the list is Kerdi Board. This product is total crap. This product uses pressed paper for strength. Next it is Ardex AF207 Ditra Adhesive - crap and crap GreenSkin - I could go on for ever on how bad this is. The biggest let down is how poorly it failed my shear testing rigs. Worst of the lot and nothing I have tested since comes even close to it's poor numbers. So bad in fact that I use what I have left as a bond breaker tape it's so bad. Some new products just should not be launched. Just because a company makes many great products does not mean they should try and make a product for every single scenario.
