Hi abbiejan, Do you want to mosaic the whole table, legs and all or just the top? Do you want to mosaic it with ceramic or glass tiles or something else?

Plastic, even though you say it's a very sturdy type, is different than ceramics or glass and you have to take that into consideration. Everything moves. What I mean is that when anything warms up or cools down it moves. Even stone and cement moves with temperature fluctuations. Getting back to the plastic, it moves more than ceramic or glass so if you use standard tiling techniques you'll have problems.

You will need to use a flexible adhesive and grout to make it work on plastic. Or you could just do the top and put on what is called "cement board" and tile on top of that to give the tile/glass a similar substrate to help prevent cracking.

I know I've probably made more questions come up than answered any but what you want to do can cause you problems down the road if not done right.
