Where Can I Buy Cute Garden Clothing?

I did a google search for garden clothing and garden wear and found a site called 'Garden Girl' that has the cute, functional stuff (I've posted the link below).

Unfortunately the clothing is not cheap, and by the time you pay for shipping from the UK, it would get very pricey. The stuff on their site is so pretty and is designed with neat pockets for gardening tools, knee pads, etc., but I just can't afford it.

Does anyone else know of some places in the United States that sell nice gardening clothes?

There is a place called Cabela'. They might have a gardening clothes section. I've only seen the winter & xmas catalog. You can check on-line cabelas.com My friend gets a lot of catalogs(about 200) I think some have a few items but I've looked at most & thrown them out. Collections is pretty reasonable they have cute stuff for in the garden, don't know about to wear, they have a store on-line. hammacher.com (Hammacher Schlemmer is in Ohio & they may have a gardening section in their spring catalog.) I know some companies have more than 1 type catalog but I can't remember which ones. Hope this is of some help!

Before purchasing anything labeled "topsoil" think about what it is you expect it to be. Since you already returned something being sold as "topsoil" since it was 80 percent clay would you expect other sources of "topsoil" to supply anything much different? A good garden soil will have about 92 percent mineral and about 8 percent organic matter which can be compost, leaf mold, shredded leaves, etc. I would not rely on the sellers assurances that what the seller is selling is what I want and have asked for about a 1 cup sample to test myself using this simple test. Soil test for organic matter. From that soil sample put enough of the rest to make a 4 inch level in a clear 1 quart jar, with a tight fitting lid. Fill that jar with water and replace the lid, tightly. Shake the jar vigorously and then let it stand for 24 hours. Your soil will settle out according to soil particle size and weight. For example, a good loam will have about 1-3/4 inch (about 45%) of sand on the bottom. about 1 inch (about 25%) of silt next, about 1 inch (25%) of clay above that, and about 1/4 inch (about 5%) of organic matter on the top

You buy clothes to garden?! Wow, you must be one tidy little gardener. I ruin clothes when I garden. Knees with ground in dirt, rips everywhwere. My gardening clothes are the last stop before the rag box or trash. My family says I am not allowed off the property in these clothes they are so bad. I fantasize about looking good in the garden, until I get out there and start working up a storm.

In answer to Tibs, . . . no; I've never bought clothes to garden in before. I always wear wornout, raggedy clothing to garden in but I look so bad that it's embarrassing. So I'm trying to find something cute and durable that will look a little better. Of course, I don't want to spend a forture to do it, so I'm looking for a middle ground :-)

Years ago I was walking from my house to a house a few streets away to help a friend garden. I was in my "garden clothes" - that is old beat up. I complimented a man on his house which he had just painted as I walked by and he actually turned his back on me with out saying a word!
I guess I looked pretty bad! And my work clothes are beautiful compared to dh's.
So if you find some I guess it would be nice to hear about it.

I use old T tops & cut off jeans, I was leaving the pants long but didn't like wet knees so cut them off & let them "fringe" on their own, neighbors actually have complimented me on the cute shorts( they are couple of inches above the knee, nothing like going up a ladder to paint & having shorts too short, I prefer modesty! Today's work if it gets warm enough is to put last 3 pieces of sod down after having dug up front yard for pipes. Rest of sod stayed in 1 piece. These will be filling in bare areas of yard. Since we have had some good rains it will be mucky & my dirt is the rich black stuff which I like, DD has clay that sticks like glue, ugh! So instead of a light colored top I will wear a dark green old top as it will get grass & dirt on it. One pair of shorts, I hemmed the bottoms on years ago, I've actually pulled out of rag bag 3 times in last 20 years. I wear them a lot because they feel so good on!! They don't seem to stain either. Old tops make great dust cloths. Jan
