My guess would be, it would be just fine. Because your 'tufa/concrete sphere is not air tight! Unless you really used some admix to seal it, but even then, concrete breaths some. However, an air escape hole would not hurt a thing. I put 'tufa over a gourd, and the gourd absorbed the water from the mix and expanded and cracked the piece while it was still damp. I should have soaked the gourd first, until it was fully expanded from water before I covered it with 'tufa. Lessons we learn.

Hey Don, I wrote last nite to say I was having problems using the remote to close the door. You said to try tweaking the sensors. I did that and the light green light that had been out on one of the sensors came back on and it seemed to work fine...last nite. This morning going to work, the light was back out and the door did not work as before. I tried tweaking the sensors again, but this time, nothing happened. Any Ideas?

Gosh, there are so many granite choices. I found a few that appeal to me and I think might work with your flooring choice and white cabinets. I personally don't like white cabinets with a creamy coloured counter - I think one makes the other look a bit off. I'm not saying you need a bright white counter, but I feel like there should be some white in it, and maybe some of the grey/browns from your flooring. Some of these pictures are granite, a couple are quartzite. Here are a few: But, here is something else to consider. Have you looked at soapstone? I love it and you really should look at it, and feel it in person to appreciate it. There are several different colours available. See this chart of colour options and the way the colour changes when you add mineral oil to it. Gorgeous. Like every other surface they all have pros and cons. Do some reading on this forum from others about quartzite and also soapstone, the care needed and the types of imperfections you can expect and how to deal with them.
