Hi. I did a search and didn't find anything so maybe I can find some help here. I bought a Solarex solar panel (with a 4 X 9 grid on it) that I was hoping we could use to run our well pump during our many power outages/brownouts that we have where we live. I was told by someone that this is not strong enough for that but I could charge, and keep charged, one or two car batteries. My question, if the solar panel was hooked up to the car battery or batteries would that supply enough power to run the well pump? We have a very small bathroom with no tub (just a small shower) so we can't store extra water there for flushing the toilet. It would be nice if we could have running water during an outage. Thanks for any help you can offer.

You can do the math. Calculate the power needed to run the appropriate sized pump motor. Then determine if your solar panels are large enough to provide that amount of power.

Do you have a lot of them? We've got many, and they live in the three blue spruce next door. I love those guys and call them the Bickersons. They bicker and chatter up a storm. They like to live in climbing roses, and in my former home, they lived in the ivy that grew on the house. I didn't realize there were nests in the ivy until I got hit in the face with bird poopla that fell out of the nest as I was cleaning the ivy. Live and learn. Diane
