NFL Suspends Haynesworth

So, Albert Haynesworth received a five-game suspension for his assault on Andre Gurode. Personally, I don't think it's enough. I'd have booted his keister out for the season. I know he's apologetic and I appreciated the fact that he stepped right up and didn't make excuses. But, it is what it is -- he's lucky he didn't end up in jail.

Did anyone hear if the Titans imposed any punishment of their own?

That was the most pathetic thing I have seen in a long time. You're right, 5 game suspension is not near enough. He should have to leave the game. I hadn't heard of any additional punishment by the Titans coach, but I hope he does. The guy should be in jail for assault.

GO BEARS!!!!

golddust, if you get into problems of a more technical nature, don't know if you know about crackberry, but their forums are outstanding for phone problems. It's mostly geared toward berries but they do have Droid & iPhone forums now. There are a lot of people trying to get their VZW iPhones up and running. Think I read some issues with syncing and what worked for some. See "vzw iphone just arrived" thread.

"This whole thing is beyond abhorant. But the practice of letting these guys get away with almost anything, just because "they play ball real good" has been going on for a long time. Most of these jerks got their start in collage sports, paid for by tax payers, there, they get away with any thing, and are treated like gods, again, because "they play ball real good" and never get any real education. By the time they get in the pros, they get paid rediculous saleries and think they are way above the law. This piece of sh!t, Vick, and anyone else linked to this activity, should be imediatly executed. As you can tell by my views and probably bad spelling, I am furious." Dotmom, I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately our culture worships athletes and stars and is fascinated by violence. The whole rap culture thing is tied up with dog-fighting as well as violence against humans and still we allow our children to listen to that garbage and emulate rappers' speech and dress. What you said about colleges is so true and so unfair to kids who work hard in school. And our star-adoration is the reason we have these little witches prancing around thinking they can drink and drive, take illegal drugs, and neglect/endanger their children with no consequences. Even cable news, which used to be a serious source of information, has become a combo of People magazine and the National Enquirer all because the public is so hungry to hear about these slobs. It's enough to make you sick. I'm so glad this happened with Vick to call attention to the horrific realities of the dog-fighting world. Unfortunately, I don't think much will change in our society until the American people say enough is enough and start saying no to all kinds of violence and stop worshipping fame.

Tannantok, you're describing my DH's place when I met him! He also had a beer can collection growing on his back patio. He owned virtually no dishes (eating out of the pan was the norm). When you walked in the door you were greeted by a picture of a big haired blonde wearing suspenders and not much more. Laminated to a piece of charred wood. Given to him by his mother. Current decorating would be blankets tacked up to the windows, but he'd also have 1000 watt lights all over the place. I tell him the sun would not provide enough light for him. Clothing would adorn all the lamp shades (if he used lamp shades at all...probably adorn the curtain rods. Bathtowels would be the floor mats. Steak knives would pin up things to the walls, and EVERY wall would have something pinned to it. He'd have a ginormous sofa with blankies and his dogs. No pillows, except for what was on the floor. And every cupboard would be doorless and the drawers self closing.

Here you go, Pipsmom, the team you're cheering on even as you castigate another for cheating: Impedegate (2013) to top ⤴home ⇐awards ⤵ TEAM: The Pittsburgh Steelers SEVERITY: SUMMARY: With 6:26 left in the third quarter of their 2013 Thanksgiving night game in Pittsburgh -- aka The Paris of Appalachia -- Baltimore Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones took a kickoff back and had to alter his path because Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had stepped onto the field. Jones returned the kick 73 yards, but was tackled by defensive back Cortez Allen on the play, and Baltimore had to settle for a field goal on the drive. Said NFL VP of Officiating Dean Blandino: "In that instance, the referee could basically penalize the team whatever he deems equitable, which could include giving the Ravens a touchdown. That's not the case here, but certainly coach Tomlin was in the white. He should have been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct." In December 2010, the league fined the New York Jets the same amount after a sideline wall established by strength coach Sal Alosi resulted in Alosi tripping Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll. Alosi was suspended indefinitely by the team and resigned in January 2011. VICTIM: Baltimore Ravens (Specifically, WR Jacoby Jones) PUNISHED? Yes PUNISHMENT: Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000 ________________________________________________________________

I heard yesterday that the police are asking if the injured player wants to press charges. I don't know what the result was.

I also read in the paper that Haynesworth has had a series of violent incidents. It's great that he was contrite, but he really needs help to get a handle on this before he hurts someone permanently.

Kudos to Jeff Fisher for stating immediately that the behavior was unacceptable.

Gurode's not going to press criminal charges, but he's keeping the option of a lawsuit open, especially if his vision doesn't clear up.

Here is a link that might be useful: STEELERS!

I don't know if Gurode will press charges or not. In our local paper(The Tennessean) it doesn't seem he will. However, Fisher was quoted as saying he doesn't know if he wants Haynesworth back after the suspension. We have enough problems without his temper. It is odd that he has never had any publicity with problems off the playing field, only on the field. Maybe he should just quite playing football. The Colts VS Titan game was the best of the season without him, even though it was a loss!
